Tibet Autonomous Region → Nepal 21 days / 20 nights

This is not a simple crossing — it's a cycling trek across one of the highest, most spectacular plateaus on Earth. From Lhasa and the Potala Palace, eleven days of riding along the Friendship Highway cross eight passes above 4,400m — including the Gyagtso La at 5,220m — to reach Rongbuk, the world's highest monastery, at the foot of Everest's north face. The trip ends with one of the world's longest bike descents, from the Tibetan plateau down to the rice terraces and temples of the Kathmandu valley.

Difficulty ★★★★★★★★★★ Meeting point: Xining — one-way to Kathmandu

For established groups and cycling clubs only

This trip is designed exclusively for already-formed groups or cycling clubs (association, club, group of friends) — we do not run it for individual travellers.

Altitude acclimatisation required beforehand

This trip starts high and climbs fast: eleven riding days between 3,400 and over 5,200m, with stages that can exceed 120km and 1,300m of ascent. Good acclimatisation is essential — the first four days (Xining, then Lhasa) allow a gentle climb before the passes of the plateau, and a spare oxygen bottle is carried as part of the trip's equipment. As with our other very high-altitude routes, we can help you prepare your acclimatisation before departure.
