Trip Highlights
The world's largest desert trek — a true bucket-list route
The Sahara is Earth's largest wilderness system. Trekking it isn't just about scenery — it's an extreme experience of space, time, and orientation.
Deep into the Sahara, reaching the towering Chegaga dunes
Four consecutive trekking days, far from roads and human traces, culminating in Morocco's most untouched, expansive stretch of the Sahara — the Chegaga dune field, for an extreme experience of the desert's vastness, time, and solitude.
Live like the nomadic Berber people, if only for a while
Throughout the trek, you'll live alongside local Berber guides and the camel caravan — desert flatbread, campfire music and dance, stargazing — a taste of true nomadic life.
Varied lodging styles, from desert camp to city comfort
The trip takes you through traditional Berber caidal tents, a luxury tented camp, and a characterful Moroccan riad. Hot meals are provided throughout the trek to keep you fueled.
A mature, reliable desert trekking support system
Led throughout by professional desert guides and a Chinese-speaking group leader, with a camel caravan carrying luggage and supplies, and a cook ensuring full catering — so you can trek light.

Arrival in Marrakech, the red city of Morocco
On arrival at Marrakech airport, our private vehicle will be waiting for you. From there, transfer to a comfortable Moroccan riad, and step into the flavor of North Africa!
Depending on arrival time, rest at leisure or head out to explore, then join us for a welcome dinner in the evening. Your group leader will walk you through the itinerary, things to note, and a bit about Moroccan culture.
Crossing the Atlas Mountains
After breakfast, we drive south, beginning our scenic road journey. We'll cross the High Atlas Mountains via the 2,260m Tizi n'Tichka pass, the landscape shifting gradually from lush mountains to russet-red earth. Lunch en route.
In the evening, we arrive at the desert base camp of M'Hamid, the last village before entering the Sahara. We'll settle into camp, enjoying Berber cuisine and music at the edge of the desert as we prepare for the trek ahead.
Deep into the desert's heart
Over these four days, we'll cross small canyons carved by dry riverbeds at the foot of the Bani mountains, and walk through vast rocky desert and dry salt flats — until, at last, the view opens up: the Chegaga dune field spreads before us like a golden sea. Each day's 4-5 hours of trekking brings a complete shift between salt flats, dunes, and the highest dunes — every type of desert scenery on show.
At Chegaga, we'll stand atop the dunes to watch sunset and sunrise, the light painting the dunes from gold to russet-red. At night, with zero light pollution, this is one of the finest places to watch a brilliant Milky Way.
4x4 Dune-bashing · Aït Benhaddou · Return to Marrakech
On day seven, we ride 4x4 vehicles through the dunes for a thrilling final crossing, bidding farewell to the Chegaga dune field as we leave the Sahara behind and head toward the UNESCO World Heritage site of Aït Benhaddou.
On day eight, we visit this remarkably well-preserved traditional Moroccan fortified village, taking in centuries-old earthen architecture and oasis scenery, before returning to the red city of Marrakech, bringing this unforgettable Sahara trek to a close.
