Trip Highlights

Yellow arrow and scallop shell waymarker
01

Europe's foremost cultural trek, a UNESCO World Heritage route

The Camino isn't about scenery — it's a human trek built on faith, migration, and inner dialogue, one of the wellsprings of European trekking culture.

Country lane through the Galician countryside
02

Through Galicia's forests, farmland, and stone villages

The route winds through oak forests, country lanes, stone bridges, and old villages — a distillation of northern Spain's untouched landscapes.

Santiago de Compostela Cathedral
03

The most joyful, pilgrim-spirited stretch — arrival at the holy city

This final 115km is the most ceremonial section of the French Way: just the right length and duration, with the atmosphere at its richest, ending at the holy city of Santiago.

0km marker at the end of the world
04

The most ceremonial finish: the 0km marker at "the end of the world"

Arrive at what the Romans called "the end of the world" — standing before the Finisterra 0km marker on the edge of the vast Atlantic, completing the Camino's final rite.

Characterful Galician manor house
05

Comfortable stays throughout, including a night in a Galician manor house

Carefully chosen comfortable hotels balance rest and local flavor. One special night in a manor house lets you feel the unique character of northwest Spain amid century-old stone walls and countryside.

Authentic Galician cuisine
06

Authentic Spanish food, a treat at every meal

Galicia is famous for its cuisine — octopus, Padrón peppers, and cheese are local specialties. The food suits Chinese palates well, and local wine is served with dinner throughout.

Pilgrim passport and official certificate
07

A ceremonial finish — pilgrim passport, scallop shell, and official certificate

You'll receive a pilgrim passport and scallop shell; upon arrival at Santiago Cathedral, completing the final 100km earns you the official Compostela certificate — a keepsake of the journey.

Daily Itinerary

Church in the town of Sarria
DAY 1

Madrid — Sarria

We gather at noon at Madrid Chamartín Station, where your guide will meet you. From there, we take the train together to this centuries-old town — also the starting point of the Camino's final 115km — Sarria.

After check-in, rest or explore on your own. In the evening we share dinner together, where your guide will walk you through the itinerary and things to keep in mind.

Meals: breakfast & lunch (on your own), dinner (included)
Hotel: comfortable hotel or characterful guesthouse, twin room
Galician countryside pilgrim trail
DAY 2

Sarria — Portomarín

We follow quiet country lanes through oak forests, passing many beautiful small villages along the way. Look out for wonderfully preserved Romanesque churches, and once in Portomarín, rest a while on the terrace of the main square. You'll notice the yellow arrows and scallop shells that mark the way — they'll accompany you for the whole Camino.

Trek: 21km, +404m / -446m, about 6 hours
Meals: breakfast (included), lunch (own), dinner (included)
Hotel: comfortable hotel or characterful guesthouse, twin room
Romanesque church at Eirexe
DAY 3

Portomarín — Palas de Rei

Leaving Portomarín, the Camino climbs gradually alongside the Miño river. We'll pass several well-preserved Romanesque churches, the most notable at Eirexe — with a statue of Daniel, one of the four great prophets of Christianity, at its entrance, and a statue of a pilgrim inside. On sunny days, we can also enjoy the quiet of the Galician cemetery at Ligonde.

Trek: 24km, +493m / -323m, about 6.5 hours
Meals: breakfast (hotel), lunch (own), dinner (hotel)
Hotel: comfortable hotel or characterful guesthouse, twin room
Medieval village and forest trail
DAY 4

Palas de Rei — Arzúa

Today is our most demanding day, passing through small villages as the terrain gradually descends. We'll walk through forests and along streams, through medieval villages, finally arriving in the town of Arzúa. Once there, you can visit the churches of Santa María and La Magdalena at leisure.

Trek: 28km, +521m / -690m, about 7–8 hours
Meals: breakfast (included), lunch (own), dinner (included)
Hotel: Galician century-old manor house or comfortable hotel, twin room
Camino waymarker and small chapel
DAY 5

Arzúa — O Pedrouzo

Today we pass through stretches of woodland, streams, and villages. You can stop at a small chapel to see a statue of St James. The walking is a little easier from here — don't forget to chat with fellow pilgrims from around the world; they'll help you appreciate this trail's long history even more, which is part of what makes this route so special.

Trek: 19km, +304m / -387m, about 5 hours
Meals: breakfast (included), lunch (own), dinner (included)
Hotel: Galician characterful manor house or comfortable hotel, twin room
Botafumeiro swinging at Santiago Cathedral
DAY 6

O Pedrouzo — Santiago

Today is the final stretch of the Camino. We arrive at Santiago de Compostela Cathedral and stand in the square, gazing up at this masterpiece of medieval Catholic architecture. Together we'll collect the official Compostela pilgrim certificate, marking the completion of this 115km journey. At 7:30pm, we attend the cathedral Mass — with luck, you may even witness the swinging of the great Botafumeiro incense burner.

After Mass, the whole group heads to one of Santiago's most historic pilgrim-tradition monastery-hotel restaurants for a celebratory dinner — sharing and toasting this unforgettable pilgrimage together!

Trek: 19km, +261m / -305m, about 5 hours
Meals: breakfast (included), lunch (own), dinner (included)
Hotel: 4-star hotel, twin room
Finisterra, the end of the world
DAY 7

Optional day trip to "the end of the world" · Finisterre
